About Om Gaia Tree
Thev vision of "Om Gaia Tree" was inspired by Murray Harris while she was on a bike ride in Sukothai, Thailand. She was mezmerized by the beauty of the land and continually giving thanks to Gaia, the earth goddess, for creating such splendor. She was also very moved by her recent studies of yoga and the Gayatri mantra, a sanskrit mantra that honors the Great Spirit, and requests divine intellect. During her chanting of the mantra, she envisioned a human, grounding her feet into Gaia, in order to grow tall and strong and wise ike a tree - raising her limbs to the sky and spreading them wide. It was then that she felt the universal vibration and said, OM, Gaia, Tree.
Murray considers herself - along with other things - a clothing designer and fashionista, a yogini, a vessel for music and expressive dance, a positive thinker, and a global ambassador for peace. She currently lives in the costal mountains of California near Santa Cruz.
In 2001, Murray received her degree in Health & Exercise Science from Wake Forest University in North Carolina. It was during her college years that Murray discovered live music, dance music, and the altered states of consciousness that could be achieved through dance, movement, and getting "lost in the music". After college she spent several months folowing the band Phish, as well as hiking & camping throughout the United States before settling on the island of Kauai.
On Kauai, Murray embraced the magic of the Hawaiian Islands, spending as much time as possible camping, hiking, swimming, surfing, and watching sunsets. She met her most influential yoga teachers, Bhavani Maki and Tara Mala, at Yoga Hanalei on the north shore of Kauai. Bhavani and Tara encouraged Murray to practice intentionally, without judgement or attachment. Since then, Murray has practiced with various instructors all over the world, and continues to spend time in nature with Gaia.
Murray has always been an avid traveller. Since 1995 she has been visiting places like Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Costa Rica, and Canada. In some of her most recent travels, Murray voyaged to Italy, Costa Rica, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, & Bali. It was in 2007 in Bali, where she decided to begin a clothing design and manufacturing business. Om Gaia Tree clothing is produced in Bali and imported to California, where it is sold at select boutiques throught the United States, as well as online, and at private trunk shows or festivals. Om Gaia Tree Designs are made to be unique, fun, funk-tional, and comfortable. It is casual yet fashionable clothing that can be worn as daily wear, festival costume wear, or for a night out!
Murray is also a personal fitness trainer, and certified yoga instructor. She has practiced Ashtanga Yoga all over the world and studied in Mysore, India. She is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Personal Trainer and has a bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Sciences.
Murray coined the term "Dub-Temple" to describe her ethereal, world-beat, downtempo, electronica-influenced music mixes. She DJs for ecstatic and intentional dance events, music festivals, weddings, parties, and dance classes.
